Hypothetically, since this project is inspired by OSR titles, would it be possible to port over content between this and other OSR content such as Old School Essentials?

Oh I have a fantasy version of this exact toolkit too, I’ve used it for OSE many times myself and it works great! I wrote up my solo OSE game here: https://silvernightingale.substack.com/p/valley-of-the-shimmering-god-actual?r=9...

awesome! I was hoping to combine it with the FORGE system (also found here on Itch), which is a classless system that I can’t wait to try.

awesome! I really like it, just have one question, is the Enemy Actions tables, like on the Fantasy version, now merged on other tables? or how can I play a delving combat? thank!

nvm I found it in the Encounter Builder section!! yey

Silver Nightingale's Fantasy Solo Toolkit is my absolute go-to.

I must possess this.

Has anyone tried this with Mothership? If so, how was it?

Hear me out, how cool would it be to play a gammaworld like game eoth this. Just out in an autonomous generation ship exploring it as it travels through space and time.

I had no idea this released! As usual, late to the party, missing the freebies. Getting it right away on drivethru.  The other Solo toolkit has been my choice for one of my longer campaigs and I love it. Thanks for this!

Holy smokes. Instant buy. Loved the fantasy version.

Your fantasy version is one of my favorite solo tools ever! My kiddos and I have been using it for a fun after school work campaign for weeks now. My oldest will be so excited there's a scifi version!

(+2)

love it!  I’ll second for a quest generator but where would you squeeze it in?  One nit pick (this is nerdy).  Conventionally speaking it is believed that  there are more binary star systems in the universe than single.

(+1)

Thanks! If I do an update down the line, I’ll make binaries more common! As it stands, the Oracle/Spark tables are pretty good at giving the outline of a quest if you roll them in order, ie “Protect + Thriving + Faith”

Thanks for the tip.  If you have the fantasy version the quest generator on that is easy enough to translate to Sci-fi. A question - under what parameters do you change a scene when using your oracle?

(+1)

I typically use those tables when I feel like something changed in the narrative but i dont know exactly what. Like if I ask "Can I escape" and the answer is "No", I roll on Event seeds to see what has made that so? The "Changing Environment" result tells me the doors are closing, or the room is flooding, etc

Thanks 🙂

Awesome! Been waiting for the sci-fi version. I hope you also make a quest generator for this. It will work with all my favorite sci-fi games.

I am a big fan of the Ultimate Solo Toolkit, so I immediately jumped on the new Sci-Fi Edition. What I found:

Same quality and mindset of the original - it's a one-stop shop for your solo RPG needs. It includes all the oracles you want, character and location creation tables, exploration rules and a basic RPG ruleset if you don't bring one. Add dice, pen & paper and you're good to go pretty much like that. Now personally, I don't use the included rpg ruleset and also tack on another system for expanded NPC interaction, but still find these little pocketmods invaluable since they're so practical (and way more readable than Juiced for example).

The Sci-Fi Edition changes what needed to change and even adds some stuff (also see detailed comparison below) without giving anything up, very nice! Now "Sci-Fi" can be a lot of things, I would say the main use of this Sci-Fi edition is in "into the void" type space exploration gameplay - going somewhere by space ship without knowing where you'll end up. You can do a lot of other stuff, too, but that's where you'll get the most out of it and you'll probably drop half the content if you go another flavour Sci-Fi. And I don't see it especially useful for modern/cyberpunk/near-future urban settings (maybe we'll get even more sets one day? =D).

The differences for those that have the original:

Additional:

Techno-Generator in addition to other word oracles produces word oracle fitting SciFi/Tech (Void, Psi, Quantum, Mech...)

Star system generator

Spaceship combat rules

Changes:

Basic ruleset with psionic powers, ranged weapons and scifi equip.

Encounter Builder heavily adapted for space and un/inhabited planet encounters.

NPC creator table almost double the size (would love this for the basic edition, too!)

Sea travel exchanged for space travel, with separate discovery table

Terrain crawl heavily modified for planet crawl

Dungeon delve tool slightly overhauled for site delve

Unchanged:

Basic oracles pretty much identical

Alien/Monster maker nearly identical

Site exploration flowchart same as dungeon exploration

Hexcrawl nearly identical
